What is the legal shade for tinting, does it vary around australia? can you get the rear window tinted?if laws of window tinting came in 1982 then can you tint the front window on cars before then?? that would be cool.

| you can tint all the windows except the front...and i doubt it would be cool when you cant see jack shit out of it |

| Only part of front windsreen that is allowed to be tinted, is the very top for approx a couple of inches depth. General rule of safety is that the tinting is not allowed to exceed past the highest point/tip of the windscreen wiper arms/blades arc of travel. |

| Legally in vic you can go 35% tint on the sides, 15% on the back |

Having dealt with Tint-a-car in Narre Warren, Vic. for a number of years, I can tell you that in Victoria if you don't have a passengers side mirror, the limit is 35% on rear, 35% on rear side, and 50% on front side.
If you have a passengers mirror then you are allowed 35% on the front side as well.
As of a few years ago, you were allowed to have a tinted windscreen but it had to be the laminate between the glass that was tinted and only to 5%, therefore you have to buy a new, tinted windscreen. A 3" (75mm) band is also allowed across the top of the screen.
