depends

if you use standard parts and fit it yourself, i would say around 3000-4000

someone else fitting it 4000-6000

those engines are pretty hard to get hold of, i rang sss automotive and they said have fun finding one, and he said when he does get them in they sell for 3000, just because they are rare.

try looking for a nissna engine, mainly because they are easy to get and parts are more common

Yeah coz i dont know what to do. I dont want my gem to be standard, i wanted at least a turbo or s/charger in it. But it seems like a hard and expensive thing to do.

What do you recommend i do?

Gene,
I have a Piazza in my Gem and my brother in law has an FJ in his and I know what I would rather work on and it didn't come from a nissan that is for sure. The Piazza engine is an easy swap to do if you take your time and think about it. Apart from the dizzy hitting the fan cover (which you can just pull off) the engine mounts will line up and the gemini box with bolt and everything else lines up. The other thing is the Fuel injection which is just an external pump hooked up to a bigger fuel line and use the std return. We had alot of trouble getting things to fit with the FJ. Granted that the FJ will make more power in the end but the reality is the any more than about 200hp at the wheels in a Gem is very hard to use.

Cheers
Paul

Paul,

Even though you addressed it to Gene it was a help to me, thanks. Can i ask how much it ended up costing you in the end? (Including engine, installation and all extra additional neccesities.)

Also, how does it run, what speeds are you gettin 0-100km/s etc?

Thanks mate,
