Today I rang city dismantlers and made a few enquiries about reconditioning my g200w (twincam).
He said that those motors could not be reconditioned as over time they develop piston slap and the bores become oval shaped. Therefore a full rebore and larger pistons are always needed. You cannot simply replace rings and bearings.
He quoted me $1300 for a 3/4 bottom end rebuild.
Anyone got any experiences from DOHC recons/rebuilds ? |

u in brisbane?? the gemi shop recos them. he just re/built a 250+hp one for anderw (aka GEM4PLAY)

so could the gemini shop get gaskets etc as well at decent prices?
i dunno if its worth a trip north just to get it done properly  |

Gene you say 250+hp is this a turbo twin cam???
soop you can reco any engine it is a matter of sourcing the parts from the right people.I would first find out whether the pistons and block are worn out.If you need more info e-mail me.gem. |
