i got another diff center out of one of the other 10 or so axles i have here, and i was going to weld up the planetaries up so i could swap the centeres in my car for a weekend or so, that way i can do some kickass skids and donuts! ;D

has anyone done this to a gem? (changed the centeres a few times)? it doesnt stuff the pinion gear or bearings or anything does it?

....i wish i could afford a lsd Sad

nah it takes no time at all, just pull the axles out a bit, remove the panhard rod and take off the cover and bearing caps, and it just pulls out. i just wanna do some big skids and take the car down the quarter once then ill change it back Very Happy

Just keep the shims on the same sides as they came out and change the crown wheel on the diff centre, pinions and crowns are machined to fit each other prefectly. Mixing might produce a noise or wear

rather than welding it up why not spend $100 and get a mini spool for a salisbury 28 spline diff?
that would replace ur plantery gears?
and then wen u want a normal car again just remove the spool?

diff centres can sometimes be temprementle like that. had lots of troubles with a few of my mates centres when we swaped them over. after that we got in the habit of swaping whole diffs instead.

just weld it up. if your keen on leaving it in there i recommend getting 28 spline commodore axles (VN) and shortening them. cost around 100 per axle to do. if you do alot of u-turns and donuts the standard axles brake easily

i think lsd's are pretty shit as they brake often

ive heard spools make a noise when driving.
