www.x7cars.com
they have a genIII powered clubman, and i wa stalking to the designer, and he claims the genIII v8 is a little lighter than a sr20det with large front mount, and gt30 turbo.
i reckon, buy an x7, then twin turbo it....check the stats page.
if its really that light, then itd be fun....

rob.

I reckon the guy you spoke to is full of shit if he said that, they are almost identical engines, except the V8 is has twice the componentry of the 4 cylinder. So how can is possibly be lighter. They are both alloy blocks, sumps and heads.

And why would he mention the intercooler and turbo? Thats crazy, intercoolers are aluminium, and the GT30 wouldn't weight any more than the standard T28. Anyway, a properly tuned SR20 with good intercooler and than turbo should make more grunt than a Gen 3 engine, stock that is.
