When I went for a drive today whenever I stopped the engine kept stalling. I was also backfiring heaps. I went for drive earlier in the day and it was fine. Does anyone have any idea's as to what is wrong?

it may be a few things...1 it could be one of your spark plug leads.. i would check that first,change them first to see........2 it could be your points..but it sounds like your plug cables to me.......or it could even be stuff blocked in the carbie..(have you got an air filter on?)?...

I do have an air filter on. I just went for another drive and it was fine so I don't know what the hell is going on!

have you tried adjusting the idle speed on it? it might be goin too slow to keep goin and it stalls. mine does it all the time

This would be a real long shot but i have seen it happen before... My bro's G/F had a TG that did the same sort of thing, countless mechanics couldn't figure it out till one of them said that he had seen this prob before. He pulled the muffer off and sure enough one of the baffles had collapsed. It was driving o.k every now and then, but when it built up too much back-pressure BOOM! It would back fire like a mother-bitch. If it idled for too long the same would happen, it would either stall or eventually back-fire.
Like i said, it's a long shot but it's something to think about.
