hey guys whats the deal with more compression and how much can you have like, i know you can have a 1800head on a 2litre block but can you have a 1600head on a 2litre block?? with higher compression what are the advantages/disadvantages, this is for a 2litre non turbo, any help greatly appreciated

1.6 and 1.8 heads are the same dude. putting a virgin 1.6 head on a stock 2l will give you round the 10.5 : 1 compression ratio. high compresion is useful for the radical camshaft profiles. also make sure you get good mating surface with the head and block or the gaskets go easier.

Pretty much when you boot up the compression you get more power out of the engine. The disadvantages is the higher up you go the more spot on your timing has to be or your engine will ping a lot, and also you need better fuel when you go up higher than normal |
