Well, I just finished fixing my heater today, although your problem sounds a little different. What model gem do you have? To fix my TD I removed the heater element (lucky its only 2 screws) and soaked it in a bucket of hot soapy water. This was because nothing would flow through it, even from the hose. Eventually that cleared up and I put it back in. YOU MUST BLEED THE SYSTEM for it to work, this had me puzzled for a bit. Oh, and when you pull the heater out expect to find about 20 years of leaves blocking the air flow.

As for the demister, if you hear things moving when you move the levers it should be working. I found it is impossible to fix the fresh/recerc lever without taking out the dash, so now its just a wire under the dash job.

Sorry for the long post, but I think its a bit more helpful than just saying that I had the same prob. Oh, and invest in a workshop manual - they are worth the dough.

Cheers, Greg.
