Have you had a squizz under the bonnet to see if everything looks ok? Once I was driving to work and all of a sudden, shit power and a pinging noise... turned out to be one of the ignition leads had popped of a sparky, and so cyl. 4 wasn't sparking. Ya never know it could be something as stupid as that.
But anyway give us more info, ie. does it do it always? even at idle? where abouts on the engine is the noise coming from etc.etc. |

Just a thought, check the timing chain to see if it's skipped a tooth.

hey
that prob sounds similar to what happened with my old 161, i was cruising down the freeway one night, going fairly quick and it was struggling (as they do) and yeah when i backed off for some lights somewhere and then tried to go again i had the same thing as your describing, then i tried to drive it home made it five mins and realised it wouldnt get up the next hill. turned out it was the bige end of one of eh pistons, is allfucked (i got it back from teh guy who pulled it apart and put my g200 in, but yeah sounds terminal if its the same as mine, sorry to hear teh bad news dude,
but yeah get it checked out and if you cant see anythign i guess you have to pull it to bits.
hope it works out not too expensive
cheers
