i had he same trouble a little while ago, yes it is the carby.pop the bonnet, stand on the drivers side and look into the engine bay. look closely under the air cleanr is the carby, on the carby there is 2 screws that you will need to know about. idle stop screw and idle mixture screw. the idle stop screw is located almost at the bottom of the carby on the left, it is probably a phillips head screw but a flat head screw driver can be used to. about 4cm right (towards the front of the car) there is the idle mixture screw, it is a flat head screw, it is right next to a spring and a hose.

with the car off, wind the idle mixture screw all the way in slowly(do this lightly and stop when it stops) clockwise , once its all the way in unscrew it (anticlockwise) 2 full turns. now start the car. then if the car is idle ing to high or to low, adjust the idle stop screw in and out till your happy with the revs.
cheers

Thanks alot for the help kizza. I knew about the screws and what they did...just didn't know where the idle stop screw was. I know which one is the mixture screw, but not how to set it correctly.

Would doing what you suggested fix my problem?

Thank-you very much once again for the help. Wink

Andrew.

Kizza, I just did what you suggested then took my beast for a hoon to see how she responded...and she loved it. The gagging and flat spots are gone. The engine did it a TINY TINY bit once, but it was cold...once I got to the top of my street and took off, it was off like a shot.

Many thank-yous!

Andrew.
