It could be the timing chain. The guides wear out and it makes a tapping sound. A bit like tappet noise but on steriods.

I had it on my old boonger wagon and it sounded like a deisel !

Mine cost $250 for a semi heavy duty (same as a heavy duty parts wise but a little less clamping pressure for the street so its easier to drive).

That was fully installed, new parts and all.

My advice would be to bore the g180 out to 2L and fit 2L pistons. ACL gear will be fine.

This basically gives you a 2L bottom end, the g180's are easier to find and rev a litte nicer.

It can be done youself if you take some care.

My advice would be not to use a fine rubbing compound alone. Instead use a very fine compound with a carnauba wax. Great stuff and provides a brilliant ...

Look in the workshop section.

Piazza, g200z, g200w (i think), and 2.6 rodeo injection inlet manifolds fit to the g-series.

I wouldnt do it, the paint doesnt last forever and tends to peel off on heavy use areas and it will just look like shit.

The $798 price seems more realistic. Seals are not cheap.

Door seals can be bought from clark rubber by the metre, it works out to about under $40 per door.

Mine is rooted too. The teeth that the ratchet catches on break off over time.

From what I've looked at the removal requires the loosening of a bolt on the side of the trans tunnel (inside the car) ...
