Matthew Kemp sends this interesting piece from Nightcliff NT.
In the Northern Territory we have a competition between schools dealing with Holden Gemini's. The competition gets the students involved in motorsports which is becoming HUGE in Darwin, and teaching them how to control a car. There are 3 other cars to ours and HOPEFULLY next year there will be more.
Our car is #23 and I race for Nightcliff High School. Everything in the car is standard with a 6 point roll cage, bucket seats, racing harnesses, 14' racing wheels, 1.6L, and thats about it. Its fastest speed recorded down the Hidden Valley straight is 155km/hr and has been recorded at 165km/hr on the rollers. The fastest lap in our car is 1:36.35 set by Sean Tiederman who also owns the lap record in the competition. All the cars in the competition are standard, and all are maintained by the schools.
