Meet Gemima, as she is commonly known down at Hidden Valley race track. Together over the past year we have managed to start and finish 24 races in the front position in a class known only in Darwin, Clubsport 16. The class designed as a learning ground for high school students.
Gemima was bought for $200 with a recon 1.6L engine and perfect body. After months of hard labour she took to the race track. A few modifications were made over the year to cope with the extremes. We changed the valve springs to heavy duty, and increased the jet sizes in the carby.
We finished the year with a 3rd place in the race car division and 4th place overall in front of a Mustang, 5L VS Commodore and Ford XR8 Ute just to name a few. We also picked up the NAMSC (North Austrailia Motor Sports Club) best presented car of the year.
Next year I am changing class to Improved Production, so a 2L engine is in order. Equipped with waggot 3 cam, control tyres, twin 40ml side draught webbers. I hope to be cams approved by then and competing at the V8's.
Thankfully there has been no discrimination against me as I am the only female in the class and lets hope it stays that way.
